The American Museum of Natural History was established in 1869. The Museum is one of the world's preeminent institutions for scientific research and education, with collections of more than 32 million natural specimens and cultural artifacts. The Museum provides the public with a complete educational experience through its unique exhibitions, classes, lectures, films, and other events.

Hours of Operation:
The Museum is open daily, 10:00 a.m.—5:45 p.m.
The Rose Center remains remains open until 8:45 p.m. on the first Friday of every month.
The Museum is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Take the B or C to 81st Street subway stop.

The best museum in NYC by far

Definitely worth a LONG visit

Anyone who visits NY should plan a long visit to the AMNH! I especially recommend the Hall of human origins and the 4th floor, with dinosaurs and extinct mammals. Not to mention all the earth science section, and the temporary exhibitions... just go.

Natural History Museum in New York

Every born and bred new yorker loves this museum, and every tourist loves to visit it too!
They have so many things to see, do and enjoy that it is impossible to explore this Museum in one Sunday afternoon... You have to come back, and come back, and come back... That you love dinosaurs, rocks, or stars and planets, it is all there...
