The St. Lucie County Regional History Center (formerly known as the St. Lucie County Historical Museum exhibits the history of the Treasure Coast. Exhibits include the ancient Ais tribe, the Golden Galleons exhibit which features artifacts from the wreck of the 1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet, an early Seminole encampment and exhibits featuring the history of the Seminole Wars, the beginnings of Fort Pierce and pioneer life and culture. The 1908 Register-Gardner Houser provides visitors with a glimpse at Florida's pioneer past. A special exhibit gallery offers visitors changing special exhibitions every 6 months. The research library of the museum holds archives, rare and informative books and the Harry Hill Photogrpahy collection of life along the early Treasure Coast. The research library is open to the public and researchers by appointment. Special events,living history demonstrations, lecture series, tours, outreach programs, summer camps, traveling educational trunks and history tutoring are just a few of the public programs this museum has to offer.
