The museum of the history of the City of Richmond was established more than a century ago by the Valentine family in the original home of John Wickham. This private institution now spans the entire south side of the 1000 block of Clay Street and includes the fully restored Wickham House (1812), the fully restored Edward V. Valentine Sculpture Studio, two levels of exhibition galleries, Cafe Richmond, the Valentine Gift Shop, and facility rental space for events and meetings. The History Center also operates Historic Richmond Tours, which offers walking, bus and Segway tours of the city.
